The extract “ What a piece of work is a man”is part of a speech in the famous William Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet”(year1602).
On the one hand, the writer evoques 3 elements of the nature: the earth, the air and the fire which seem not to please him greatly although they are perfectly created.
On the other hand,he portrays the man as a striking creation who, despite of his nobility and his reason,is the purest extract of dust;that’s why he doesn’t feel delighted with him.
To conclude,I would say William Shakespeare has chosen a philosophical way to express his disgust and his disappointment which I found singular as well as exaggerated.
